Agent Carter's Jack Thompson is dead...or is he?

The Marvel series closed out its sophomore season with a win for Team Carter, but little did Peggy (Hayley Atwell) know, the SSR's victory wouldn't soon be tainted by Jack Thompson's (Chad Michael Murray) shooting. The agent was messing around with Peggy's S.O.E. (Special Operations Executive) file, and his meddling landed him a bullet between the ribs.

As you impatiently wait for word of a season 3 renewal, executive producer Michele Fazekas has a few answers to help kick off the hiatus.

"We did not kill off Jack Thompson, we shot Jack Thompson," Fazekas told Entertainment Weekly. "We shot him. Honestly, he might not be dead, and that's what we as writers have said, and that's what we told Chad. That's the truth."

As for why Thompson took one to the chest, Fazekas can't say. The EP can, however, confirm that it had nothing to do with the Council of Nine key.

"It is not for the reasons that you'd expect. It's unrelated to Council of Nine, Zero Matter, any of that," Fazekas explained. The mysterious act was perpetrated with the sole intention of stealing Peggy's mysterious file.
