Erika "Jayne" Girardi always looks to be at the top of her game when it comes to fashion, but according to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, her off-screen persona is much different than what fans have seen on the show.

In a new interview, Girardi opened up about her love of fashion, but admitted that when she's not on television or performing as Erika Jayne, her favorite fashion staple is a pair of black leggings.

"Fashion is a part of not only my personal life, but also my stage persona," Girardi said during an interview with Glamour magazine on Tuesday. "I was fortunate enough to already have a big collection, but I definitely added to it for the show. It's a job, and you always want to maintain your persona and your whole thing."

When Girardi joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for season six, she admittedly did not know what would look best on television. As a performer, she had mastered the art of dressing for shows and music videos, but when it came to evolving into a fashionable reality star, she was faced with challenges.

"I know what reads better for the stage or video, but not for reality TV with bad lighting. I had to figure it out quickly, and I had to dress appropriately for the situation [we were filming]," she explained to the magazine. "The simpler the better. I'll tell you what's not camera-friendly. Something that makes your bust not shapely. Too much fabric can give you a matronly look. It needs architecture even if it's just a T-shirt."

That said, Girardi enjoys comfort when she's off-duty, so-to-speak, and claims she often travels to Starbucks in the morning for coffee with no makeup and "looking crazy."

"I always say I'm going to be buried in black leggings. I've worn them so many times they're thin in places. I wear leggings every day of my life," she added.
