Many guest stars are expected to return for the final episodes of Fox's Bones.

The end of the road for Bones is fast approaching as this 11th season winds down and the crew begins preparation on season 12, which is also serving as the final season. To honor this final run of episodes, there are many guest stars from the show's past who are being lined up to return, according to Bones showrunner Michael Peterson.

Peterson spoke about this in a new interview with Parade, revealing that Ryan O'Neal will show up in the season 11 finale.

"We are getting ready to shoot the season finale, and David Boreanaz will be directing it. Ryan O'Neal, who plays Brennan's father will be coming back for that one. I think the one that most excited David is we have an episode with hockey elements to it, so Jeremy Roenick will be in it," Peterson said. "We have wonderful actors but not a lot of stunt casting. Just people we think are fantastic. We also have Parker (Gavin MacIntosh) coming back in episode 16, so it's more of a family affair."

Moving forward into season 12, Peterson said that he and series creator Hart Hanson have had discussions about planning this ending in advance.

"We want this to be a grand ride off into the sunset for the final 12 episodes for next season. We will bring back as many guest cast as humanly possible and whoever is available. We'd love to get Cyndi [Lauper] back. We don't have Betty [White] for the second half of this season, but we'd love to have her come back. Next season, we have one episode in particular that we would love to have her back for. We are leaving it wide open."

Fox announced that Bones was renewed for a 12th and final season back in February.

Bones airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
