The cordon is up, but the truth behind Containment's virus remains a mystery.

Patient Zero and his family are on lockdown, but authorities are still searching for the reasons behind the virus' introduction. To those with their boots on the ground, it seems as if Sayid (Ronny Mathew) is the perpetrator. As the series moves forward, the investigation into Atlanta's new plague will ramp up.

"Yes, that's a big part of it, what happened there," executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord told EnStars at WonderCon. "In short, it's an interesting examination of certain preconceptions and xenophobia and whether those are accurate. There's a whole lot going on there."

With so much attention focused on the virus' spread and a search for a cure, these answers might be a longtime coming. Terrorism currently ranks as the CDC's No. 1 theory, particularly considering the possibility for a shockingly high death toll. Like Ebola, however, this type of situation could easily arise merely by accident.

"[The CDC is] very concerned that something like this could happen in America. It's sort of like people who work on terrorism are like it's sort of inevitable that something like this could happen again," Corman and Ord said, referencing the 2014 Ebola epidemic in West Africa. "These folks are concerned that a viral outbreak [could happen], because of the way we travel now. There's so much fluidity between countries, and all it really takes is a single person to carry this in and then, if they're in a particularly dense area, we'd have a big problem."

Did Sayid willingly bring the virus into the States? If so, why didn't he wander around the city insuring it's fatal spread? So far, Patient Zero only visited his relatives and the hospital - not really a wide cross-section of society.
