Apple and Samsung introduced two smartphones that have consumers scratching their heads trying to figure out which is better in terms of specs offered. Enstarz breaks down the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy S3.

Screen/Display and Dimensions:

The iPhone 5 has a 4.0-inch screen, 4G LTE with Retina Display and a 1136x640 resolution at 326 ppi. It weighs in at 112 grams. Width is 2.31 inches (58.6 mm), depth .30 inches and height is 4.87 inches (123.8 mm).

The Galaxy S3 has a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display and a 1280x721 resolution display. The 2.5G weighs in at 133 grams. 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm

Operating System:

Apple runs its device on iOS 6.0 OS and Samsung is on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream sandwich). The Galaxy can be upgraded to 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).

Pricing and Storage Options:

AT&T announced this week that its Galaxy S3 will sell for $99.99 with a two-year contract, an instant $100 reduction. Sprint offers the same similar with a similar package and other carriers are expected to follow. Both 16G and 32G options are available. Apple's official website noted that the iPhone 16G sells for $199, 32G for $299 and 64G for $399.

Camera, Photos and Video:

The iPhone 5 is fully equipped with full HD 1080 pixel video recording, that can take up to 30 frames per second with audio. There is a 8-megapixel iSight camera and an HD FaceTime camera with face detection in video or still images. It has up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of audio playback. Photo and video geotagging and tap to focus video or still images.

The Galaxy S3 has a rear (main) 8 mega pixel auto focus camera with flash and zero shutter lag. The front camera is 1.9 mega pixels and has HD recording. AllShare Play, social tagging and face tagging as well.

Power and Battery:

Apple offers up to 225 hours of standby time and up to eight hours of talk time. The phone charges via USB to a computer system or phone adapter, In terms of Internet use: up to eight hours on 3G and the same for LTE, and up to 10 hours on Wi-Fi.

Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 2,100 mAh battery. Standby is up to 790 hours on the 3G. Talk time on the 3G is up to 11 hours and 40 minutes. The battery can for 50 hours on 3G.

Colors:

iPhone 5 can be purchased in black lined with slate, or white lined with silver. The Galaxy S3 comes in Pebble Blue, Marble White, Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black and Titanium Grey.
