As Microsoft barrels on towards E3 2016 next month, the tech giant seems to be determined to make its flagship console, the Xbox One, as attractive to consumers as possible. Indeed, last week alone, one of the Xbox 260's most popular titles, Call of Duty: Black Ops, made it to the list of backward compatible games for the firm's current console.

Of course, Black Ops is just the tip of the iceberg, as Microsoft has announced that more games would be coming soon. Considering that sales of COD: Black Ops on Amazon rose by 13,000 percent after Microsoft's announcement, it seems like the gaming world is indeed supporting the efforts of the tech giant in creating a unified, universal gaming world.

But that is not all. Apart from the backward compatible games that are set to be announced and revealed soon, Microsoft is also partnering up with popular gaming enterprises to make its Xbox One console a much sweeter deal for potential buyers.

Take Microsoft's promotion in collaboration with GameStop and Best Buy, for example. From May 23 to 28, the two gaming stores are offering a very special limited time offer for the Xbox One. Under the promotion, every customer who purchases an Xbox One would get a brand new game absolutely free.

What's even sweeter is the fact that the offer extends even for those who purchase an Xbox One with a bundled game. Thus, for gamers who purchase an Xbox One bundle deal, they would end up getting an extra, brand new game for free.

In the initial promotional materials that were released by Microsoft, popular titles such as Overwatch, Quantum Break, NBA2K16, The Division and even Grand Theft Auto V are included in the free games list. So far, the only ones that are not included are those which initially cost more than $60 and those which are special edition.

Even with the $60 or less and the no special edition rule attached, this most recent promotion is one blockbuster deal for gamers. After all, with most stores already offering the Xbox One at a discounted price, having a promotion involving a free game all but augments the appeal of the console.

Of course, with E3 set to unveil Microsoft's plan for its gaming console, this coming June would be an interesting month for Xbox fans around the world.
