Despite Apple's seemingly continued attempts at convincing the mainstream consumer market that power tablets such as the iPad Pro are the ideal devices for productivity, true-born laptops such as the firm's esteemed MacBook Pro line remain to be the go-to devices for users who simply want to get things done. Thankfully, it appears like the MacBook Pro would finally enjoy a much-needed upgrade this year.

It has been a while since the MacBook Pro has been given a notable upgrade and redesign. According to a particularly accurate Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the 2016 MacBook Pro would most certainly be the Apple laptop that power users have been waiting for.

The analyst, who has managed to garner a reputation for correctly predicting the features of Apple's most notable devices in the past, stated that the 2016 MacBook Pro would be released in two sizes, a 13- and 15-inch variation, with the machines set to be made available for consumers by the last quarter of the year.

The laptops are also said to thinner and lighter than previous models, thanks to Apple's new metal-injection mold-made hinges and the firm's proprietary butterfly-mechanism keyboards. Apart from this, the laptop is speculated to finally include Touch ID, with the option to unlock the laptop through an iPhone's fingerprint sensor coming in the near future.

Perhaps the most unique aspect of Kuo's speculations lies in an alleged OLED display touch bar that is set to replace the laptop's physical function keys. Though such innovations have been attempted by firms like Lenovo and Razer in the past, OLED touch bars have proven tricky as a means to replace physical keys.

Then again, Apple is known to be a company that simply makes innovations work. Thus, it would not be very surprising at all if the Apple's rumored OLED display touch bar ends up being received favorably by consumers and critics.

With the 2016 MacBook Pro also rumored to feature Skylake processors and AMD's 400-series Polaris graphics chips, this year's update to the MacBook Pro is looking to be a clear winner even before it is released.
