Celebrities and television personalities reacted to the death of popstar Whitney Houston on Saturday, whose death comes just a day ahead of music's biggest television showcase, the Grammy Awards. 

Her publicist Kristen Foster said the singer, 48, died on Saturday afternoon without specifying a cause or location, according to the Associated Press. The death was confirmed by multiple news sources including NBC and CNN.

 "We've lost another Legend. RIP WHITNEY HOUSTON. I'm Honored to have had the chance to work with such an amazing human being," tweeted singer Akon.

American idol host Ryan Seacrest, who waid he was at a rehearsal for Sunday's Grammy Awards wrote "everyone around here is absolutely stunned."

Singer Chris Daughtry wrote "Wow! I'm speechless!"

Kourtney Kardashian tweeted "Wow! I just heard of Whitney Houston's passing. My heart and prayers go out to her daughter. She will always be remembered. Very tragic."

Rapper Soulja boy tweeted simply "R.I.P. Whitney Houston." Rapper Ludacris called her "one of the purest souls I've ever met in my life."

Nick Cannon wrote "RIP to Whitney Houston a true queen."

ABC News Journalist Robin Roberts wrote "This is so incredibly sad."

Dancing With the Stars professional dancer Cheryl Burke wrote "My prayers go out to her family."

Volleyball Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May-Treanor wrote "listened to this queen of music growing up. She will be missed but her music will live on. Rest in Peace!!"
