Fourth of July will send fireworks streaming across The Night Shift, both literally and figuratively.

San Antonio Memorial will have all hands on deck this Independence Day. Whether it is ill-fated firework displays or untimely heart attacks, the holiday is prime real estate for accidents. Unfortunately for a few concertgoers, their celebrations will be upended by disaster in "Dawn's Early Light."

"TC (Eoin Macken) and Topher (Ken Leung) rush to the scene of a concert where a fireworks explosion has caused massive chaos. As the two jump in to manage the mess, a second explosion causes problems for one of our own," NBC teased.

As a steady stream of injured revelers pours into the ER, the night shift will call on a familiar face for back up.

"Syd (recurring guest star Jennifer Beals), returns from Afghanistan and helps out with the team at San Antonio Memorial but finds herself grappling with best plans for herself and her young daughter," the peacock network revealed. "Drew (Brendan Fehr) tries to help but runs afoul of their unique family dynamic."

Drew and Syd won't be the only docs dealing with a little interpersonal turmoil, however. Just as one pair or coworkers learns to get along, another may find their differences irreconcilable.

"Paul (Robert Bailey Jr.) and Shannon (Tanaya Beatty) put aside their differences to treat a patient and find they have more in common than they thought. Meanwhile, Jordan (Jill Flint) and Scott (Scott Wolf) treat a patient injured in the fireworks explosion and have a chance to address some simmering differences."

Look for "Dawn's Early Light" to air on July 6.
