The long wait is officially almost over for good for Secrets and Lies fans, as ABC has officially given the show a premiere date this fall.

ABC has given the series a premiere date for Sunday, September 25 at 9 p.m., more than a year after the first season ended on the Network.

The new season is set to follow Detective Cornell (Juliette Lewis) as she investigates another grisly murder. This time, the victim is Kate Warner (Jordana Brewster), the wife of Eric Warner (Michael Ealy). Her death occurs on the very same night Eric is expected to inherit his father's consulting firm as he prepares to retire. The investigation will unfold dark secrets about the entire Warner family in the process, including Eric's sister, Amanda (Mekia Cox), brother, Patrick (Charlie Barnett), and even his father, John (Teryy O'Quinn).

The first season, which premiered in March of 2015, showed Cornell trying to piece together the murder of a little boy, Tom, after his body was discovered in the woods by a neighbor (later revealed to be his father), Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe). That investigation ended with the reveal that ben's younger daughter, Abby (Belle Shouse) committed the crime, and he protected her by confessing and going to jail. The online Cornell Confidential scene for the episode revisited the Crawford family one year later and saw Cornell approaching Ben's other daughter, Natalie (Indiana Evans), and asking for her help in tracking Abby down to pay for her crime, following Ben's quick death in prison. The final shot of the season saw Cornell running into Abby and her mother, Christy (KaDee Strickland), on a boardwalk as they shopped.

Though the series was quickly renewed for a second season following its popularity, there was hardly ever any word from ABC about when it would premiere. After initially being slated to take over for Nashville during the winter break, the show was moved for the second season of American Crime. It was then never put on the network's spring or summer schedules either, leaving fans in the lurch when it came to the show's fate.

Now, ABC has finally given fans the answers they're waiting for, and it's only three months away.

Secrets and Lies season 2 premieres Sunday, September 25 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
