They're two men who may seem like they are polar opposites on The Walking Dead, but with season seven beginning in October, fans may be shocked to learn that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) will come from eerily similar backgrounds.

With the rollout of "Here's Negan" by Image Comics, which publishes the Robert Kirkman series ongoing, so far, the character seems to be similar to Rick in a way that could be very telling.

As fans of the show know, Rick woke up in the apocalypse after getting shot months before. He had been abandoned by his best friend, Shane, who assumed he was a goner when the hospital became overrun with Walkers. Since then, he's led his group of survivors through several traumatizing events, including a battle with the Governor, Terminus, and Alexandria also becoming overrun. This has all led him and his group to the moment where Negan and his Saviors took revenge out on them for killing their men by bashing in the head of one of theirs-though the identity of that person is still unknown.

Negan's story however, begins as him being a foul-mouthed gym teacher who cheats on his wife with a mistress, until the former becomes diagnosed with cancer and he decides to devote his life towards helping her as she battles the disease. When the apocalypse begins, he too is abandoned in a hospital, with his wife, watching the destruction unfold through a window.

Not much else has been revealed about Negan's story, like what happened to his wife of what he endured between that day and the current one fans know of on the show, but it would be interesting to see how much more his arc parallels the one Rick had, and how it influenced him in a different way. While Rick has become a bit power-hungry and tends to try and control his group, he has rarely ever used violence except when necessary for his defense. Negan however has risen to become the powerful leader of a band of men who steal and take from others, and don't hesitate to kill when they aren't given what they want.

It is unclear how, or if, Negan's backstory will be thoroughly examined on the show.
