The 2016 Emmy nominations will be announced Thursday morning, and here's how and when to watch the big announcement live.

Many TV fans will be watching this year's Emmy nominations announcement on bated breath to see if their favorite shows are nominated. Since Emmy voters are known for liking the same shows year to year, many are expecting big nomination hauls for shows like Game of Thrones, Veep, House of Cards, Downton Abbey, Transparent and Better Call Saul.

There's also the limited series/TV movie categories, which are arguably the most compelling in years. Critically acclaimed series like The People v. O.J. Simpson, Fargo, Roots and American Crime will likely all receive lots of love, as well as TV movies like All the Way and Confirmation..

The Emmy nominations will be announced by black-ish star Anthony Anderson and Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham. The announcement will begin at 11:30 a.m. ET / 8:30 a.m. PT, a refreshing start time for many on the West Coast, who have had to wake up at five in the morning in past years.

The nominations announcement will be live streamed on Emmys.com. This is the only place to watch the announcement officially, and luckily it is free to stream.

Of course, with the ever-expanding category totals at the Emmys, not every category will be announced live. Usually, the top award categories are announced, including Comedy Series, Drama Series, Limited Series, and the Lead Actor and Actress categories for each of their respective genres - plus Variety Talk Series and Reality-Competition Series.

The rest of the nomination list, including the Supporting categories, will be available at Emmys.com shortly after the announcement.

Voting in the Television Academy will take place in the ensuing months, and then the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards will go down live Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
