The VMAs were all about Video Vanguard winner Rihanna, who took to the stage four times to perform her hits before accepting the huge honor.

In three seperate performances, BadGirlRiRi took to the stage, opening the show with a medley of her hits, "Don't Stop The Music," "We Found Love," and "Where Have You Been." She later took to the stage twice more, to perform other hits, like "Rude Boy," "Work," and more.

Her big moment came however after she was presented the Video Vanguard Award, which has previously been awarded to Kanye West, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears in recent years.

After an introduction from Mary J. Blige, Rihanna performed one final time as the show's grand finale, performing "Stay," and "Diamonds in the Sky." Following the performance, her "Work" collaborator Drake (who had previously missed receiving his award for Best Hip Hop Video because of New York traffic), walked on stage to deliver a beautiful speech about her and how hard she was worked to get the career she has.

Rihanna then spoke about receiving the award, saying she was proud to be bringing the award back to her home country of Barbados, and shouted out the people who mean the most to her.
