They've been at war since he learned of her affair with his brother, but now, the arguments between a disagreeing and on the verge of divorce Jack (Peter Bergmann) and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) will take an ugly and unexpected turn on The Young and the Restless.

Since learning that she cheated by sleeping with Billy (Jason Thompson), Jack has sworn revenge on them and Hill (Jess Walton), who knew about the affair and didn't tell him, declared another war on Victor (Eric Braden), fired Phyllis from the foundation and tried resigning from the board himself, and has declared he is returning to the ways of his old self, and he will no longer be the nice guy he was since all it got him was a cheating wife and a brother who betrayed him. But now, when Phyllis once again turns up at the house to discuss his decision to get a divorce, things will get out of control quickly, and when Phyllis takes to the stairs and grabs Jack to try and get him to listen to her, his wrenching free will send her falling down the steps and getting hurt-and when Billy walks in and sees her lying there, more hell will break loose.

After Phyllis is taken to the hospital, Jack will find himself accosted by a reporter who heard about her injuries, and he will learn quickly what the sentiment is concerning what happened to her, and it won't be pretty, not will it paint him in a good light.

"Then you've heard the rumors," the reporter says in a preview clip for the Thursday, Sept. 22 episode.

"What rumor?" Jack asks.

"That you beat up your wife," the reported replies.

Meanwhile, Billy is remaining by Phyllis' side at the hospital, and he will use the moment to try and convince her that making attempts to repair her marriage with Jack will be futile, and she should just allow herself to be with him again, this time, for good.

"If you look into your heart, you will find the truth, that you still love me and we can be together," he says in the clip.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
