Thomas Gibson was fired by the management after he had an altercation with a staff during the filming of one of the episodes he was directing. After more than 10 years, in the show, the 54-year-old actor had to say his goodbye.

People reported that the management has cast Damon Gupton to replace Gibson in the show. Fans can expect his character to appear in Episode 8. This was confirmed by executive producer Erica Messer in a statement. She also expressed her excitement to have Gupton joining them in the show.

Gupton who is a graduate of both Julliard and the University of Michigan will play the role of Special Agent Stephen Walker. It was said that he has a spy-hunting skill, which is an asset to the BAU. Gupton has also appeared in numerous TV shows and had starring roles on "The Player" and "The Divide." He also appeared in a number of films like "Whiplash" and "La La Land."

Meanwhile, International Business Times reported that "Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 2 will follow the intense premiere episode of the show. Episode 2 will be the last episode fans will be seeing Gibson's Hotch. It will also tackle a case that will be a little personal for FBI Agent Jennifer Jareau, also known as J.J. (A.J. Cook).

In the official synopsis for Episode 2, J.J.'s like will be in danger as she works with Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriquez) and Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) in catching a serial killer/arsonist. In the promo video for Episode 2, J.J. can be seen walking towards someone who is asking for help and then something explodes. David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) are also giving the team insights on the killer.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 2 titled "Sick Day" will air on Oct. 5 on CBS.
