Chrissy Teigen is using the horrific Kim Kardashian West robbery incident to change her social media presence.

Teigen changed her Twitter account to "private," with users only able to follow her and see what she's tweeting if she accepts your follow request. The model chose to do this just a few days after the shocking report of Kardashian West being robbed of almost $11 million in jewelry in her Paris hotel apartment.

Teigen spoke with Vanity Fair recently about going private on Twitter and how Kardashian West is doing now.

"We've been texting," Teigen said. "She's doing great now. It was definitely a traumatizing, horrible, horrible thing. Honestly I couldn't even imagine it happening to me. I don't even know how I would have reacted. I don't think anyone would know how they would have reacted to a situation like that. It's definitely terrifying. And we're all looking at social [media] now, like, 'Crap, maybe we got to chill out a bit.'"

As for toning down her blunt personality on Twitter, Teigen admitted it's been tough.

"It's hard for me because I'm so used to being a open book. It was so fun to be able to do that," she said. "Everybody after [Kim's robbery] has definitely simmered down."

However, the model noted that it's been more manageable to not deal with the "Twitter eggs" who so often write cruel replies.

"I'm in heaven right now. The grass is green. I feel like a new person. You honestly forget that the negativity exists once you block it out." she said. "The people that like you don't tend to be horrible to you. I swear, [going private] has changed my mood, my life. It's really, really nice."

Meanwhile, Kardashian West has been silent on all her social media sites other than the robbery incident. She did cut down on her Twitter followers this week, though, trimming from 124 to 107.
