Model, mother and social media star Katie May died after a sudden stroke in February due to a tear in one of her major arteries that carry blood to the brain, as a result of a chiropractic treatment she underwent. It was a sudden death that left her 7-year old daughter and all her loved ones in a state of shock when a simple neck nerve pinched has caused her life after. A lesson is yet to be learned because of this incident. As chiropractic treatment is still considered alternative medicine or complementary medicine, it should be done by a professional chiropractor and that the condition should be well described by the patient before any adjustments are done.

This week, CBS News reported the findings of Los Angeles County Coroner's Office the cause of death of the 34-year old playboy model. The LA County Coroner said her death, while accidental, was caused by "vertebral artery dissection" - a tear in one of the major arteries that carry blood to the brain, caused by the chiropractic treatment.

This incident, however, can only be done by an "extreme force" as explained by Dr. Keith Overland with the American Chiropractic Association, who was also the past D.C president of ACA but he was not able to expound further what may have happened as only the immediate practitioner can do that.

Now that people have been normally doing this, Katie May's family have only advises left which can eventually be an eye opener. Her sister, Jenny McKerrow said "This brings awareness to the possible risk factors of a neck adjustment," she added, "While it's rare, I was shocked to see how many cases there are. But now there's a public face to put on those risk factors." According to News Corp Australia, it's unclear if May's family plans to follow up with legal action against the chiropractor.

Katie May's family has currently opened a GoFundMe account for her daughter's future. It is currently raising a fund of $100,000 and through May's followers, it hopes to reach its target.
