While Microsoft Corporation continues to dominate the laptop industry, it cannot be denied that competing tech firms are closing in on the erstwhile global leader. One such organization is Lenovo.

The Chinese company is on a comeback trail. Aside from its upcoming smartphone, the Beijing-based manufacturer will also mount a challenge in the flexible computer department.

During this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Lenovo has unveiled its Miix 720 unit. A vital component to this product is the Active Pen 2 which introduces a highly-sensitive printing approach.

According to the Chinese firm, the basis in building the writing accessory leans on the contemporary approach of constructing evocative or substantial content. In line with this, the digital pens have been made to conform to human intellect which includes sketching, brainstorming and memorizing.

When it comes to mobility and adjustments, the Lenovo Miix 720 can definitely compete against Microsoft's Surface Pro unit. The 12-inch 2-in-1 transformable unit is protected by a Gorilla Glass display.

Aside from projecting a 2880x1920 resolution, Intel's Kaby Lake processor propels the gadget. Aside from its HD Graphics 620 feature and 16GB RAM, storage space runs up to 1TB of PCle SSD.

The Miix 720 sports a pair of cameras that can be used to tune into a computer by tapping into the Windows Hello approach and facial recognition. The rear lens has a 5MP photo tracking capability while the 1MP front-facing one provides an infrared perception.

In terms of data transfer, the ports available include the USB Type-C, the USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 variants. Connecting options are made possible through the 802.11 Wi-Fi system and the Bluetooth 4.1 version.

The running OS will be Windows 10. Other notable specifications are the accurate touchpad and the backlit keyboard. Users can either choose the Home or Pro editions.

In addition, the Miix 720 weighs around 2.4 pounds with a 14.6mm width. It is also furnished with a stable kickstand setup with dual hinges. With its 41WHr battery, the computer can sustain up to 8 hours of use.

Lenovo will most likely release the product in April 2017.
