Nissan recently launched the top of the line racing version of its highly popular supercar, the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo. The standard Nissan GT-R is already a beast onto itself, but the Nismo-branded upgrade kicks it up a notch to fully provide would be owners a truly amazing vehicle.

Nismo, which is short for Nissan Motorsports, is the performance brand of Nissan. It is comparable to Mercedes-Benz' AMG and BMW's M division, a sub-brand that is fully dedicated to high performance and racing. The division has been around since 1984 and has attended several global racing programs such as the Le Mans, Bathurst 12 hour and Japan's Super GT championship races.

Given the nature of the Nismo branding, the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo has been given all the proper upgrades and tweaks that truly make it a car for enthusiast drivers. According to Drive, the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo features a more powerful VR38DETT Turbocharged V6 engine that generates 591 horsepower and 480 pounds-feet of torque.

The figures are a big increase from the 541 horsepower and 463 pounds-feet of torque found on the standard Nissan GT-R. The increase in the car's power figures can be attributed to the large diameter turbochargers, which are also used on the Nismo GT3 race cars.

While the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo might not be readily available in the majority of the Nissan dealers worldwide, Nissan has announced that they will also be releasing a Nismo version of their 370Z sports car. The 2017 Nissan 370Z 2-door sports car was revealed to potentially come out before the end of 2017, as per a report from Car Advice.

Similar to the 2017 Nissan GT-R Nismo, the 2017 Nissan 370Z will be coming with a beefier engine that will generate more power than its non-Nismo counterpart. Nissan revealed that they do have a stringent list of requirements for dealers for them to be able to sell the GT-R, but this shouldn't be the case for the Nissan 370Z Nismo. This means that the vehicle could become more readily available from a wider group of Nissan dealers when it comes out.
