Hasbro Studios' science-fiction action movie series, "Transformers" is coming back a few months from now for its fifth installment. It has been almost three years since fans of the computer animation-live-action film have seen the movie and this time, more and more updates regarding the possible events and characters have been talked about online.

It was in February last year, when the chairman of the "Transformers" franchise for multinational toy and board game company, Hasbro, has announced that a new installment will be released on 2018. Later that day, Tom Warner, the chairman, revealed that the planned new film will be a spin-off, which would reportedly focus on the yellow and black Chevrolet Camaro, Bumblebee.

According to Cinema Blend, the director for the upcoming "Transformers" spin-off has already been confirmed. Film director, producer and the lead animator for Laika Entertainment, Travis Knight, is officially on board to direct the upcoming untitled spin-off. Knight is known for his animation films, Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), The Boxtrolls (2014) and ParaNorman (2012).

Aside from this, it has been reported that the script for the "Transformers" spin-off has already been completed. Writer Christina Hodson reportedly revealed that the complete screenplay of the upcoming Bumblebee movie was already presented at Paramount Pictures, and with the confirmation of Knight as the director, the release date for the film is officially set in the summer, June 8 next year.

Meanwhile, fans of the "Transformers" series already have a few months left before they can see the fifth installment titled "Transformers: The Last Knight" on the big screens. A report from The Verge revealed that the plot for the upcoming film will be set in the absence of Optimus Prime, which will spark a battle between the humans and the Autobots-Decepticons.

The fifth installment of the "Transformers" series will release on June 23, 2017.
