Amy Adams thinks it's time for action -- and she believes her new film Man Of Steel, the newest incarnation of Superman, can more than deliver.

"I was shaking by the end of it," the actress, who plays Lois Lane in the upcoming film, told the July edition of Elle UK.

"I realized that I hadn't seen a film with that much action in it since Avatar, so it overwhelmed my adrenal system. Not that it's all just action, but it is a lot of fun," she said.

In her own life, however, Adams said she prefers things to be a bit quieter. She still hasn't reconciled her status as a A-list actress with her perpetual feelings of insecurity -- she even quipped that she was insecure a long time before she was out in the spotlight.

"I like not being noticed," said the actress, adding that she's more than willing to let those with bigger, brasher personalities take the lead (indeed, the actress is a four-time Oscar nominee for Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter, and The Master, and all in the Best Supporting Actress category).

Adams also insists she still isn't sure she quite fits in with such an elite crowd: "I had an existential crisis at the Oscars, sitting next to Sean Penn and Meryl Streep and being like, 'What am I doing here? I don't belong here.' I felt like it could all be taken away," said the actress.

Adams does argue that her vulnerabilities are what compels her in her work -- and her behavior as a famous actress.

"You feel so vulnerable all the time on set, so exposed. But I had that same feeling of being exposed when I was a waitress, I have it at parties, I have it here."

"I'd love to be a diva," Adams continued. "But I'd then have to send so many apology notes for my abhorrent behavior."

Man Of Steel opens in theaters June 14.
