The year 2018 is vastly approaching and there is so much to look forward to! In addition to the award shows, royal weddings, and celebrity babies, there are a lot of movies that will be released next year.

From Jason Momoa getting his own film in the upcoming DC film, Aquaman, to the final chapter in the Fifty Shades trilogy, here are some of the highly anticipated films of 2018.

Black Panther

Chadwick Boseman leads this action-packed Marvel film, as the titular character, King T'Challa aka Black Panther. Black Panther will follow the events from Captain America: Civil War, where the King of Wakanda, will return home to fight against two enemies that threaten to take away his kingdom. The movie is set to be released in February 2018.

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1

 

Another highly anticipated Marvel film, is Avengers: Infinity War. Part 1 will be released in May 2018. Set four years after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy, the now divided defenders of the world will have to come together to defeat Thanos, who plans to take over the galaxy with the Infinity stones.

Fifty Shades: Freed

The final chapter in the trilogy based on the best-selling series, is coming to theaters in February 2018. Fifty Shades Freed, starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, will follow their characters, Anastasia and Christian Grey, who are now married and trying to live happily ever after. Unfortunately, that may be hard to obtain as they must face a psychotic ex-boss, persistent ex-lovers, and their own personal demons.

A Wrinkle In Time

  

After learning that her father, who disappeared, is being held captive in an alternate universe, Meg Murry (Storm Reid), sets off to find him with the help of her brother, a classmate, and three astral travelers. Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling also star in this adaption of the critically acclaimed novel. The film will be in theaters March 2018.

Aquaman

Following the success of Justice League, Jason Momoa will once again portray the DC character, Aquaman. Aquaman will splash into theaters in December 2018. The film will take place after the events in Justice League, where Arthur Curry will reluctantly take his rightful place as King of Atlantis. Momoa stole the show in Justice League, which makes the wait for this movie, although a long one, worth it.

Ready Player One

 

Director Steven Spielberg's next project, Ready Player One, is based off of the science-fiction novel, that takes place in a dystopian future where Earth's population spends most of its time in virtual reality called OASIS. A race to find a hidden treasure began after the head of OASIS dies and leaves ownership of the company to whoever finds it first. The film will be released in March 2018.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Take a trip back into the wizarding world as J.K.Rowling's next visionary masterpiece makes its way to theaters November 2018. The Crimes of Grindelwarld, will pick up where the first film left off. The movie's main antagonist, Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) has escaped and continues his plans to take over the world of magic. Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) will battle against the evil wizard with the help of Grindelwald's rival and old friend, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law).
