Chris Evans's new mustache look have fueled quite a controversy, leaving fans divided on whether it's a yea or nay.

A mustache is normal, and several celebrities such as Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. had long been donning one. However, Evans's seemed to have caused the internet to break. In an interview with the New York Times, the Captain America actor gave details on the unusual hair on his face.

It turns out it is for a role, and it's not for the Marvel superhero he was popular for. Apparently, the 36-year-old actor is prepping for Lobby Hero, where Michael Cera also stars. Evans, however, acknowledged that people don't recognize him for his facial hair and admitted he seemed invisible.

"I can look them right in the eye — it's like I'm invisible," Evans said.

Not New?

The mustache look is a new one for people who are used to seeing him 'stache-free in his Captain America role. Well, it wasn't a fairly new look for Evans.

He was previously seen hitting public appearances and red carpets with a mustache and a beard, but fans noted that this case was different, as Evans dropped the beard and stuck with a thick and rich mustache.

Yea or Nay?

The fans were divided whether they love the hair or not, while some were left undecided on Evans's mustache. One Twitter user made a story about a funny coincidence.

"[I] hope henry cavill knows that chris evans stole his mustache," @leiascaptain said.

The Man of Steel actor took it up a notch when he recently shared his meltdown over the loss of his facial hair, saying he couldn't recognize himself. Evans, meanwhile, coincidentally grew one, making fans poke fun at the happenstance.

@HerNameIsWidow couldn't seem to know how to react on Evans's new mustache, and she said this with the viral Jennifer Garner Oscar gif showing the actress clapping and then suddenly stopping, like she just had a realization. @KaylCobb echoed the sentiment, announcing she couldn't seem to wrap her mind around the new look.

"Can't decide if the Chris Evans stache is the best or worst thing that's happened to me," she said.

There were also those who pointed out that Evans's new look makes him resemble someone else. @VMiraclesoftae said the actor now looked like an uncle.

For Evans, venturing to other paths other than his titular superhero role could be hinting that he is nearing exiting the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, he revealed he has no intentions of coming back to the franchise, saying "You want to get off the train before they push you off."
