Selena Gomez proves she has her BFF Demi Lovato's back following her drug overdose — literally. The popstar is spotted out wearing an inspirational message.

Keeping The Faith

Gomez was getting breakfast with friends when she was papped sporting a T-shirt dress emblazoned with the phrase "Keep the faith" on the back.

She and Lovato, who suffered a drug overdose Tuesday, have been friends for many years.

Both Disney alumni, they actually met first on the set of Barney and Friends when they were just children and have remained intermittently close ever since.

Gomez is reportedly distraught at what's happened to Lovato, with a source claiming she was very emotional upon initially hearing the sad news.

"They've been friends since they were kids and have always been there for each other ... Demi reached out when Selena had her kidney transplant. ... Selena will be there for her friend," advised a source close to the singer.

Although Gomez hasn't commented publicly on the matter, another insider confirmed she has made contact with Lovato's family.

"Selena has reached out to Demi's family members to share her love and prayers, and she is really distraught about her health. She hates that Demi has been suffering," the source said.

One person who has offered public condolences, however, is Gomez's mother Mandy Teefey. She shared a throwback pic of the two ladies on Instagram, writing that her "heart hurts" at the thought of Lovato suffering.

The Disney stars most recently reunited at the InStyle Awards toward the end of last year, where they were spotted hugging on the red carpet and then catching up with each other inside.

Battling Her Demons

Lovato was rushed to hospital Tuesday morning following an apparent drug overdose at her home in Hollywood Hills. She was later confirmed to be awake and stable.

Her publicist released a statement thanking fans for their supportive messages and taking issue with certain reports claiming heroin had contributed to the star's condition.

According to an insider, the singer, who had been sober for six years, was partying with friends all night long when the incident occurred. Last month, Lovato released a song called "Sober," in which she admits to having relapsed.

She performed the song live just a couple days before her overdose. An insider claimed she's been surrounding herself with the wrong kinds of people and was hiding her problems from those closest to her.

"The people she has been hanging around lately aren't her real friends ... She had to find creative and sneaky ways to get drugs because her team and those that really care about her really try to keep a close watch on her," revealed the source.

Lovato has been open about her struggles with addiction over the years, particularly in her YouTube documentary Simply Complicated, in which she goes into grave detail about the lengths she went to conceal her bad habits.

Although she seemed to be doing much better in recent years, certain reports claim Lovato was still battling her demons and may not have even been 100 percent sober to begin with.

Celebrities including Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas flocked to social media to send messages of love and support to the singer, wishing her a speedy recovery.
