Selena Gomez could not care less that her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber is engaged. The pop star and actress is too focused on her own life.

Doing Her Own Thing

News broke Sunday that "Sorry" singer Bieber had proposed to Hailey Baldwin, with whom he rekindled a long dormant flame just weeks ago, while they were on vacation in the Bahamas.

Gomez, who was spotted smiling happily on a boat with friends in New York City later that same day, was reportedly surprised to hear about the engagement. However, that doesn't mean she cares, according to sources close to her.

"Selena was surprised an engagement happened this quickly but not surprised Justin would do something like this knowing who he is. At the end of the day though she doesn't really care," confirmed an insider to E!.

According to the source, Gomez has completely moved on from her ex, safe in the knowledge that she had tried to make the relationship work one last time, earlier this year, to no avail.

The two pop stars dated on an off since 2010, most recently splitting for good again in March of this year, after Gomez accompanied Bieber to his father's destination wedding in Jamaica.

The "Back To You" singer is focused on herself right now and isn't bothered by what her ex is doing.

"Selena is ... in a much better place since Justin is out of the picture. ... She's just really focusing on herself. She's happy right now just spending time with her girlfriends and going to church," a source confirmed.

Another insider close to the singer advised Gomez doesn't have any ill intent toward Bieber and his soon-to-be bride, even though she knows what he's like.

"Selena knows that Justin makes rash decisions, but wishes them both the best. ... She knows Justin very well and knows he is impulsive and makes emotional decisions. ... She's not going to get caught up in what he's doing," the source confirmed.

Sharing The Happy News

Bieber and Baldwin first dated back in 2015 before breaking up the following year. Both confirmed to the press recently that they went through a period of not speaking to each other in the aftermath. They rekindled their romance last month, and have been inseparable ever since.

The "Sorry" singer confirmed the two were engaged yesterday, with a gushing Instagram post about the supermodel. He acknowledged their new status and promised to love and cherish her forever with the help of Jesus.

Bieber and Baldwin are notoriously very focused on religion as both are prominent members of the celebrity-friendly Hillsong group. The supermodel and daughter of Stephen Baldwin later tweeted a similarly gooey message about how lucky she is to share her life with such an amazing person. She, too, thanked God.

The happy couple's famous friends rushed to celebrate with them, including pop star Ariana Grande, who recently got engaged herself to her partner of a few weeks Pete Davidson. She and Bieber share a manager in Scooter Braun.

Hailey's cousin and fellow model, Ireland Baldwin, also gushed online about the happy news, reposting Bieber's original post on her Instagram Story. The couple's parents have already shared their well-wishes online, too.

Bieber popped the question at a local restaurant in the Bahamas. His security team asked everybody to put their phones away in order to keep the moment special.

Although it came as a shock to fans of the famous couple, according to insiders, it makes sense as the pop star is happiest he has ever been with Baldwin.
