While promoting his latest film Elysium on the Today show Tuesday, Matt Damon discussed his close friend Brad Pitt and addressed rumors of Pitt's jealousy.

When Matt Lauer asked Damon if his Ocean's Thirteen co-star was really jealous of him, as indicated in Damon's Esquire interview, the 42-year-old actor laughed and explained the misconception.

"The fact that here in New York I can walk my kids to school and not be hounded by photographers," he said. "What else is he going to be jealous of?"

In the August 2013 issue, Damon recalled, "I remember telling [Pitt] that I walk my kids to school, and his face just fell. He was very kind, but he was like, 'You b****rd.' Because he should be able to do that, too. And he can't."

When Lauer asked if Damon could do an impersonation of Pitt, Damon believed it was the other way around.

"Brad sounds kind of a lot like me," he said before joking, "I spend my life trying to be like Brad Pitt."

The Behind the Candelabra star then went on to explain how he keeps his personal life private while mentioning his wife Luciana Barroso.

"I got lucky. I fell in love with a civilian," he told Esquire. "Not an actress and not a famous actress at that. Because then the attention doesn't double - it grows exponentially. Because then suddenly everybody wants to be in your bedroom."

Damon also confirmed he, his wife and their daughters are officially moving from New York to Los Angeles this weekend, close-by to his best friend, Ben Affleck. The two movie stars will be focusing on their production company, Pearl Street Films.

"We both write.Together we can aggregate a lot of really good stuff and get books before they come out and develop some really good projects together," he told Lauer. "The best way to do it is hang out our shingle in a really efficient way."

Elysium, also starring Jodie Foster and William Fichtner, hits theaters on Aug. 9. Watch the trailer below.
