Kendall Jenner has been working on her brand for just a few months, but she's already facing a lawsuit filed by another liquor brand alleging that she copied their branding; what happened?

According to NBC's KXAN, as reported by Complex, the brand Tequila 512 filed a lawsuit against the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star in U.S. District Court, California.

The brand alleges that Jenner's brand, 818 Tequila, copied their branding by ripping off their "highly distinctive logo and color scheme."

The Texas-based liquor brand has been around since 2015, while Jenner launched her product in May 2021.

Tequila 512 noted how the supermodel's brand used a "distinctive black lettering inside a vertical yellow triangle."

Aside from the branding, the brand also included in their lawsuit about the incident in May where Kim Kardashian's game app used a picture of their bottle rather than Jenner's tequila.

Tequila 512 has requested that the court stop Jenner's brand from using the Texas-based company's branding to market their products.

They also wanted to be compensated with the profits 818 Tequila has made from the alleged infringement.

Although the company is facing controversy, there's a catch as Kendall Jenner is not mentioned in the lawsuit despite being the brand owner.

818 Tequila issues a brief statement, saying, "We are reviewing the complaint and believe the allegations are without merit."

The "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star has not publicly commented on the matter.

Not The First Time 512 Tequila Spoke Out

Despite the recently filed lawsuit, this is not the first time 512 Tequila spoke out about Jenner's brand.

The Austin, Texas-based brand shared a side-by-side comparison of their liquors last year to their Instagram account.

"Note the similarities, including the color, the name and it is made at the same distillery in Tequila Mexico as ours," they wrote.

They also took a dig at 818 Tequila's quality, saying their products are only distilled twice, and they are charging twice as much per bottle.

Aside from the abovementioned issue, Jenner was also accused of cultural appropriation last year while promoting her brand.

The reality star shared videos and photos of her trip to Mexico while posing in front of an agave plantation.

"Me as a Mexican, im begging yall that live in the US to DO not consume Kendall Jenner's tequila because what she's doing is called Cultural Appropriation making it hers," one wrote on Twitter.
