Prince Charles and Prince William might need to step up for good soon.

As Queen Elizabeth II continues her battle against dreaded illnesses, the monarchy seemingly began preparing for the worst and made the central members of the royal family cover for the queen.

Although Her Majesty has no plans to abdicate, Prince William could be preparing to become Prince of Wales before Prince Charles leaves the title.

Express UK reported this week that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's upcoming schedule might show Prince William's unwavering dedication to the royal family.

On March 1, Wales will be honoring its patron saint. St. David. They will also see Prince William and Kate visiting the area to mark the occasion. The duo will reportedly visit Abergavenny and Blaenavon following their appointment at Pant Farm.

The news outlet then shared that the couple's visit to Wales would serve as an attempt to boost their popularity and presence as the next Prince and Princess of Wales.

Prince William's Preparations As Next Prince of Wales

Aside from strengthening his ties with Wales, Prince William also expressed his desire to work on a massive project once he inherits Prince Charles' title.

The Telegraph revealed that the Duke of Cambridge wants to use royal properties to help the homeless. The 39-year-old royal is said to have asked his team already to explore how Duchy of Cornwall buildings could aid homelessness across the country.

In 2019, he revealed during his appearance in "Prince Charles: Inside The Duchy of Cornwall" that he started thinking about how he would inherit the Duchy in the future.

"Well, rest assured I'm not going to rock the boat; I'll do much the same as what my father's doing. I'm not so into the architecture - that's the only thing," he said.

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, meanwhile, applauded Prince William and his plans. She also noted how passionate he is in helping generations of families as he follows Princess Diana's footsteps.

For what it's worth, he started to feel interested in alleviating homelessness when the late Princess of Wales brought him and Prince Harry during a visit to Centrepoint charity in 1993.

During the charity's 50th anniversary in 2019, Prince William said that he chose to dedicate himself to the charity as his mother made a lasting impression on him when he was a child.
