A royal expert revealed the real reason why Queen Elizabeth II insisted Prince Andrew escort her during Prince Philip's memorial service.

Months before the royal family held Prince Philip's memorial service, Queen Elizabeth II found herself in a situation wherein she should make a tough decision whether to allow Prince Andrew to attend Prince Philip's memorial service or not.

Royal expert Neil Sean, at that time, said that Prince Andrew's appearance could deliver a negative message to the public.

But after much speculations, the Duke of York indeed attended the event - and he even personally escorted Queen Elizabeth at Westminster Abbey.

Why Queen Elizabeth Chose Prince Andrew To Escort Her

On Tuesday, Her Majesty got out of her car from Windsor and had her son accompany her weeks after settling the civil lawsuit filed by his accuser, Virginia Giuffre. They reportedly agreed to a settlement as the Duke of York would donate to the accuser's charity and make the declaration about her character.

While this could ignite negative impacts on the royal family, royal commentator Robert Jobson said that it actually delivered a powerful message from the Queen.

"It shows she wholeheartedly loves and believes her son. As she did when she made a statement about Camilla being Queen's Consort, many people will now accept the Queen's word and judgment," he explained, as quoted by People.

The royal author confirmed that senior members of the royal family disapproved of the idea of Queen Elizabeth II being escorted by her disgraced son. However, she reportedly insisted since he "does not have a partner."

According to Jobson, although Prince Andrew already had a settlement with Giuffre, he remains guilty of nothing in the eyes of the law.

But far from what it suggests, Queen Elizabeth II still has faith in Prince Andrew that even if he is no longer a working royal, he remains respectful to his father.

Aside from shocking the public with Prince Andrew's appearance, the Queen also took the royal fans' worries away by marking her first public event since October when she visited Cardiff, Wales.

For what it's worth, appearances have been unpredictable in the past months. She canceled several royal engagements soon after contracting COVID-19. Her mobility issues also kept her away from the spotlight.

Meanwhile, it also served as Prince Andrew's first engagement since withdrawing from his royal duties.
