Next season of Netflix's hit superhero series Umbrella Academy is going to look a little different this time around - that's because, as trans actor Elliot Page just announced on his Instagram, the character formerly known as Vanya will henceforth be called Viktor Hargreeves.

When Page initially came out as transgender, he also said that there were no plans to change the gender of Vanya's character - being a trans man who uses he/they, and an actor, it was assumed Page didn't feel too uncomfortable still playing a woman for a role.

However, clearly, that's all changed now, because here's the announcement Page just made on his Insta.

Fans are already commenting that they love Viktor's new look and style, and are curious to see how the show will handle the transition, story-wise. It is possible that they will use the fact that the characters just entered a different future - one in which their father is still alive - as an explanation for the change.

That being said, we're not sure whether they want to write an explanation into the story, or to simply let the character BE trans in order to be able to talk about it more on the show.

Last we left our misfit team of super-siblings, they had just traveled back to the (more or less) modern day from the 1960s, to find their home occupied by strangers - sort of. The six main characters found themselves face-to-face with an altered version of their own family - including the father and brother who are both dead in their universe, clearly alive and well in this one. (They also...all seem to have better relationships with each other.)

As always, with the Umbrella Academy, it's sure to be interesting - Season 3 is going to be coming to Netflix on June 22 of this year. We can't wait!
