Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus made headlines over the past few hours after reports have circulated about their divorce. Today, the estranged couple has spoken out and revealed their next move after separating.

In a joint statement to People Magazine, the couple said they decided to go separate ways, not with sadness but love in their hearts.

The pair has been together for over 30 years and had five children- pop star Miley, Brandi, Trace, Braison, and Noah.

After separating, they also revealed their next move, saying, "we have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths."

Sharing their sentiments as an estranged couple, the pair said they will always be a family to each other and look forward to a "continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents."

Regarding the timeframe of their divorce, they clarified that the decision was not made lightly or quickly.

"We have not come to this decision lightly or quickly but with so much going on in the world, we wanted to provide some clarity and closure, so we can remain focused on what is important," they added.

Last week, Tish reportedly filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee, after 28 years of marriage. The basis behind their split was cited as "irreconcilable differences."

The filing marks the third time Billy Ray and his wife separated. The latter said in legal documents that they have not cohabited in two years.

In 2010, the country singer filed for divorce before revoking the petition after a few months, saying he wanted to put his family back together.

In a previous interview, he said things have been doing good after deciding not to push through with their initial divorce.

Tish filed for divorce three years later, but they later announced that their marriage was successfully repaired through counseling.

In a statement at the time, the then-couple said they woke up and realized they still had love for each other and decided to stay together.

She added that they opened up their connection "in amazing ways" through couples therapy, which they haven't done in decades.

In 2016, the "My Achy Achy Heart" hitmaker said they had successfully taken a new approach to their connection.
