Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's defamation trial could welcome several celebrities on board.

The long-awaited defamation trial finally started on Monday in Fairfax, Virginia. The first day saw the beginning of jury selection as part of the case Depp filed against his ex-wife.

The actor's fans showed massive support by rallying outside the courthouse where the opening statements begin at 10:00 a.m.

Aside from the testimonies from people close to them, several celebrities are currently listed as potential witnesses for different reasons.

Who Are the Witnesses in Johnny Depp, Amber Heard's Defamation Trial?

Long before the defamation trial started, several celebrities and high-profile people have been entangled in the case, and they are currently referred to as potential witnesses who can help the court reveal the truth.

James Franco's name has been involved in the case multiple times, even during Depp's libel case against The Sun. It was initially reported that Franco would be deposed over his alleged affair with the "Aquaman" star while she was married to Depp. A CCTV footage also captured Franco meeting Heard 24 hours after the actress and Depp had a fight, but the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor insisted that Franco could prove that the actress did not have a black eye at all.

Paul Bettany, meanwhile, got embroiled in the case when his text messages with Depp were read in public. Part of the text messages revealed how Depp told Bettany, "Let's drown her before we burn her!!! I will f*** her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she's dead." Meanwhile, the "Avengers" star replied that those were his thoughts, as well.

Depp has also named Elon Musk in the case after suing the ACLU over the $7 million Heard reportedly donated to them. The amount was the separation fee Depp gave to the "Aquaman" actress, and Heard agreed to donate half of the amount. In 2016, the ACLU released a statement thanking Heard for choosing the organization as the recipient of the $3.5 million.

A few months later, the organization announced that they received the amount directly from Heard. However, Depp believes Musk made the donation and all the other transactions under her name.

People who want to hear the testimonies could watch the whole trial through Court TV. The network would reportedly serve as the pool feed provider in Fairfax County showdown.
