Straight off the buzz and glowing reviews of Top Gun: Maverick, Paramount has dropped the trailer for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, starring none other than Tom Cruise.

True to form, Cruise and his fellow cast members, including familiar players like Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, and newer faces like Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff, pull off jaw-dropping stunts and slick action sequences with the ease expected from a Mission Impossible film.

In the trailer, we see glimpses of the globe-trotting locations that Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is set to take place in, overlaid on top of sequences of different characters carrying out missions is a familiar voice - a voice which is later revealed to be Henry Czerny as IMF director Eugene Kittridge, in his first reappearance in the Mission Impossible movie series since the original 1996 film.

As dramatic music plays, Kittridge monologues, giving us a hint about what Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One may be about.

"Your days for the so-called greater good are over. This is our chance to control the truth. The concepts of right and wrong for centuries to come. You're fighting to save an ideal that doesn't exist. Never did. You need to pick a side."

Finally, as the music builds into the iconic Mission Impossible theme, we end the trailer with a crazy stunt, where Cruise leaps off a cliff on a motorbike - but not before we have an extended sequence of Cruise running. (But hey, how would this be a Mission Impossible flick if Cruise didn't run for extended periods of time?)

For those who are fans of the recent Mission Impossible movies, this surely won't be one to miss. Once again director Christopher McQuarrie, Cruise's collaborator of choice ever since 2012's Jack Reacher, and writer-director of the two previous Mission Impossible films, will be returning to helm the film.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One already boasts the star-studded cast and eye-catching action that will get audiences hyped. The reappearance of Kittridge, the subject of one of the 1996 Mission Impossible film's most well-known scenes, is especially sure catch longtime fans' attention.

Though the film's release is still a long ways off, it's already off to a promising start.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One is set for theatrical release on July 14, 2023.
