Nothing, not even throat cancer, can keep the amazing talent we know as Val Kilmer from reprising his role in the new Willow series set to drop on Disney+.

Based on the popular sword and sorcery film from 1988, Willow tells the story of a diminutive sorcerer-in-training, Willow (Warwick Davis), who has been sent on a quest to save a baby from an evil sorceress.

On his quest, he is aided by a roguish swordsman named Madmartigan (Kilmer) in order to save the day.

The trailer for the show was dropped last week and did not include Kilmer - as of yet.

However, according to a conversation Yahoo! Entertainment had with Warwick Davis and executive producer Jonathan Kasdan, he will be a part of the show.

"Val's a huge part of this, and the first conversation I had, when Warwick and I got the green light to do this, was with Val. We wanted his character to be a part of the story. We wanted him to be in the show."

Due to Kilmer's battle with throat cancer, which has unfortunately left the actor unable to speak, he was not part of the principal photography.

"Because we were shooting during [the COVID-19 lockdowns], he wasn't able to come to Wales and shoot with us. But he is in the show in a big way. And we're pretty excited about it. Madmartigan lives on."

Davis added,

"I still attribute me getting through the film to Val. He kept my spirits up when conditions were really treacherous and difficult. I was cold, wet, tired. He kept me laughing, kept the whole thing fun."

It should be interesting to see how the creatives behind the Willow series handle this iconic character when the show premieres on Disney+ on November 30th.
