Obi-Wan Kenobi continues to garner favor with this critic. What started as a series that took some time to find its footing has, in my opinion, constantly upped the stakes from episode to episode, and Part 4 definitely fits the bill.

Last we left Kenobi, he was beaten, burned, and defeated by his padwan-turned-Sith-Lord, Darth Vader. Leia was taken by Inquisitor Reva, and the Bantha poodoo has definitely hit the fan.

Now recovering from his injuries thanks to Tala and her bacta tank, Kenobi now has to go on a rescue mission to save Leia from a remote Empire base on a water moon.

What makes this such an intense episode is the guts they have to take the show to dark places. Leia being interrogated by Reva is one of the more interesting plot devices - nearly putting a child through a torture device to get the location of Kenobi actually ramps up the tension in a way one might not expect from a Disney+ series.

We are also treated to Kenobi relearning to use his Force abilities during a battle scenario - which, honestly, was one of the weaker narrative choices early on in the show. How does a person who has trained from childhood to hone an ability simply forget how to use it because he is a couple years out of practice?

This is forgivable, as we know this was a simple plot device to put Obi-Wan at a disadvantage, in order to make the character have to work harder - though there could have been a more interesting way to execute it.

Raw, violent, and unfettered from the trappings of holding back for the sake of younger viewers, Obi-Wan Kenobi is finally pinning down what works.

Although, hiding Leia under a trenchcoat is definitely going to become a meme.

Oh, wait. It has!

Overall, this is a very solid episode of television. Hopefully, they keep up this pace.
