Firefly star and repeat Joss Whedon collaborator Nathan Fillion is standing up for the embattled director and long time friend.

In a recent appearance on the Inside With You podcast, Fillion discussed his feelings about Joss Whedon and his willingness to to work with the Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator, who has been accused on several occasions of abuse and misconduct with his actors - including Gal Godot and Charisma Carpenter.

Even back in 2020, Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg in Justice League, called both the director out on Twitter, as well as the producers for enabling such behaviour.

Back in January, Whedon interviewed in a New York Magazine profile where he brushed off Gadot's allegations about him threatening to fire her:

"I don't threaten people. Who does that? English is not her first language, and I tend to be annoyingly flowery in my speech."

Fillion had this to say about the piece,

"I read that article, and nowhere in there at any point in time did he mention 'Firefly.' I had an entirely - that was not my experience with that man."

He added,

"I mean, listen by his own admission, that guy's a work in progress and I appreciate that...I would work with Joss again in a second. I would work with him again in a second."

Fillion and Whedon have been working on projects together for years, including Firefly, Buffy, and Much Ado About Nothing. But with the list of accounts against the director, it will be interesting to see what if any future projects he will helm, given he has barely worked on anything except The Nevers in recent years.
