LaTisha Chong, popularly known for being one of the fashion industry's game-changer hairstylists, has died at the age of 32.

According to Daily Mail UK, the famed stylist struggled with breast cancer years before her shocking death.

The outlet noted that Chong was among the new generation of Black women who became notable for changing the face of the fashion industry.

The 32-year-old stylist's last work was this year's Vogue Magazine September cover featuring Serena Williams.

LaTisha Chong's Life

Chong spent her early days in the country of Trinidad and Tobago before moving to the United States at the age of six.

At 19, she was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where she got an honorable medical discharge. She later pursued hairstyling after serving in the armed forces.

The famed hairstylist studied at Charleston Southern University with a degree in biology. Her love for hair began at the age of 10 when she started sweeping floors at a salon.

She learned a lot of tricks from her mother, who was also a stylist.

"Black hair is a family thing in our neighborhood, everyone comes to the salons on Saturday, and you learn to nurture the hair but also the soul. Latisha picked that up quickly," her sister Afesha Chong told the New York Times.

When she started working as a professional, she worked with Michelle Jones, another hair stylist who worked at Thee Salon in New York, popularly known for the pixie cut.

Vogue editor Gabriella Karefa-Johnson said Chong was one of the "tradesmen behind the fashion imagery."

Ian Isiah, a family friend of the stylist, told the magazine that LaTisha Chong had a gift and even noted that she is naturally graced with her skills and very talented in the field.

The hairstylist's profession was commended by model Paloma Elsesser as she described her as someone who paid attention to detail and perfectionism.

"She was one of the first people who I felt a level of protection from when I was on set with her," the model added.

Her last work was on Vogue Magazine's September issue featuring Serena Williams.

Makeup artist Raisa Flowers spoke about her last encounter with Chong, saying she was in bad shape at the time of the shoot, but it didn't hinder her to work professionally as she made sure she get the job done.
