The film adaptation of E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey has many of its fans dying in anticipation over who the casting department will ultimately cast as the shy college alumni Anastasia Steele.

One of the actresses that may be an option to don the role is Leighton Meester, who's well known for her work on the popular TV series, Gossip Girls.

According to Hollywood in 2012, the Steele character would be an ideal transition for the 26-year-old to take in her acting career.

"Coming off the controversial show that made her famous, this feels like a logical next step. Amp up the sex, but change up the persona, and we think the Gossip Girl star has got a fighting chance of nailing the part."

Fifty Shades screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who's currently working on the movie script, said that she would be adhering to the content of James' books with lots of sex and raunchiness. Only time will truly tell who ultimately will become the next Grey.
