Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's marriage is doomed, a former Vanity Fair editor has claimed.

In an interview with the U.K.'s The Sunday Times, Graydon Carter predicted that the Sussexes' union would last "years rather than decades."

The 74-year-old, who served as Vanity Fair editor from 1992 to 2017, also claimed that Markle would be the one to initiate a divorce.

"I think she has run rings around poor Harry and gotten what she wanted: notoriety, money and a title. His usefulness to her diminishes daily," Carter told the news outlet.

He also predicted that the former "Suits" star likely won't return to acting despite signing for representation with top Hollywood talent agency WME earlier this year.

Carter is far from the first to predict a split between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who started dating in 2016 and tied the knot in 2018.

In a May interview with GBNews, Markle's estranged half-sister Samantha Markle suggested that the duchess' much-scrutinized apparent rejection of Prince Harry's kiss attempt at a Los Angeles Lakers game in April was a sign that the couple could be experiencing marital issues.

"It's so different and so inconsistent with her character," Samantha told the outlet. "Previously, in all the photographs, she was pining over him, putting her hands all over him, grabbing his hands, grabbing his back."

"So what's up with this? Is this a symbol of separation? This is different. This is seemingly a statement on her part that she's not all that touchy feely right now," she continued. "It's kind of sad. It's telling the rest of the world, all of us, that they are at an impasse and maybe they're making decisions to part."

But the Sussexes appeared unfazed by the speculation surrounding their union.

During a mental health conference in New York City last month, Markle, who shares 4-year-old Prince Archie and 2-year-old Princess Lilibet with her husband, described her marriage to Prince Harry as one of the "most important things in my entire life" besides motherhood.

Markle and Prince Harry were also spotted together at Katy Perry's final residency show at Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas Saturday night.

Videos and snaps from the concert showed the couple having a blast watching the performance from the VIP section alongside Celine Dion as well as Cameron Diaz and her husband, Benji Madden.
