American rapper and singer Lil Nas X announced that he's entering his "Christian era" by teasing a new song and talking about his sexuality.

Lil Nas X updated his social media accounts Thursday with a snippet of a video of him singing his new song with the caption, "[Do you all] mind if I enter my Christian era?" and even pinned it on his X account.

In the video he posted, the rapper, who now has a cross as his X name, was singing and dancing around the street wearing a shirt that read, "If God doesn't exist, then who's laughing at us?"

The lyrics of his new song said, "Father, stretch my hands / The lonely road seems to last the longest / Help me with my plans / Everything seems to go nowhere / Free me from worry and wanting pity / Free me from all this envy in me / I don't want these feelings."

After receiving comments that he was just trolling, he followed up his previous post with another tweet, saying, "Making Christian music does not mean I can't suck d---- no more. The two are not mutually exclusive. I am allowed to get on my knees for multiple reasons."

Addressing those who saw his new "Christian era" as a gimmick, the "Old Town Road" artist tweeted, "[You all] see everything I do as a gimmick when in reality I'm just an artist expressing myself in different ways."

"Whether I'm a cowboy, gay, satanic, or now Christian, [you all] find a problem. [You all], don't police nobody else's art like mine. [You all] hate me because I'm fun, cute and petite," he continued.

In another tweet, Lil Nas X argued that even Jesus walked with 30 inches of hair and a sundress, so it's okay that he does the same with his long wig and skirt on.

Even after Lil Nas X's several tweets about his new era, several netizens still wondered about the real deal with the rapper.

"He has such a history of trolling, and this is so good that I can't tell if he's being serious or not," one commented. A second user said, "I hope he's actually changing his ways and not making fun of God."

Meanwhile, some known personalities showed their support.

Drag performer Kerri Colby commented, "I'm screaming. This is high-key healing."

American musician Ricky Dillard wrote, "The Lord already knows you, your pain, and He will respond."
