Kate Middleton has been dubbed the royal peacemaker, but one royal author claims there's no proof of this at all.

Royal correspondent and biographer Omid Scobie dropped his new book "Endgame" last week. The publication contains some bombshells many feel are attacks on the royal family, including the Princess of Wales. In his recent interview with Elle magazine, he was asked about Prince William's wife being a "peacemaker" and how some stories claimed she didn't see herself being close with her brother-in-law, Prince Harry, amid the royal row.

"I have questioned where Kate the peacekeeper stories come from because I've certainly not had anyone tell me anything of the sort," Scobie replied.

"From my observations and the conversations I've had with people, Kate likes to stay out of that stuff, and we've certainly not seen any efforts from her made to smooth things over with any issues with herself and Meghan or with Harry or any kind of encouragement between the two brothers to talk. I don't know where the peacekeeper stuff comes from."

Scobie claimed those stories were "lazy journalism," portraying Middleton as the "sweet and innocent wife" who wanted to smooth things over between her husband and brother-in-law. He also emphasized that the public only knew so little about the future queen consort because the people around her were so "guarded." So, the royal journalist felt that the press would only put stories about her based on what they expected from her or what they believed she would do in certain situations.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl was among those who described the Princess of Wales as a "peacemaker." She pointed out how Middleton diffused the tension between the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex during Prince Philip's funeral at Windsor Castle in 2021.

King Charles' two sons took part in the procession, but their cousin, Peter Phillips, stood between them. However, when the event was over, the royal trio -- Prince William, Middleton and Prince Harry -- were seen walking together.

"It's always been my understanding that behind the scenes, Kate has tried very hard to forge a rapprochement and act as a peacemaker between William and Harry," Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight at the time.

"She loves Harry. She says that she is the sister that he never had. She has been heartbroken to see them fall out, and I think she is one of the few people, one of the few family members who would actually be able to push the brothers together, which she did in a very subtle way, but was very effective," she added.

In "Endgame," Scobie, who was labeled as the Sussexes' "mouthpiece," claimed Middleton was too terrified to do anything other than grin in photo ops. He also characterized her as "cold" and a part-time working royal.

Former BBC journalist and investigative reporter Tom Bower felt the attacks on Middleton in the book were "gratuitous." He added that it was "very much Meghan speaking."
