Meghan Markle failed to make it "big" in her attempt to return to acting, according to a royal expert.

Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield, host of the royal podcast "To Di For Daily," weighed in on the Duchess of Sussex's appearance on Clevr Blends' coffee commercial. Schofield said other outlets "proclaim that this is Meghan's big return to acting." However, she disagreed.

"I believe that this is proof that Meghan is comfortable being an influencer. This is low-level content creation, similar to what she did while building The Tig," Schofield told Daily Express, referring to Markle's defunct lifestyle blog.

She also talked about the timing of the video. It was released after months of negative headlines plaguing the Sussexes and just a week after they dropped a one-minute clip highlighting their charity work for the Archewell Foundation. Markle is an investor in Clevr, but Schofield believes there was more to why Markle appeared in the advertisement.

"This is definitely Meghan trying to have the last laugh after months of bad press and being called one of The Hollywood Reporter's Biggest Losers," she claimed. "From a PR standpoint, I do think she is attempting to look likable and quirky, but you can't help but notice that the idea of a duchess being an intern borders on condescending in this financial climate."

She offered Markle unsolicited advice to "be more considerate of what she chooses to pursue for media attention" so she would not be "deemed the Patronizing Princess."

Some also seemingly mocked Markle's return to acting on social media. Many said it was embarrassing that she left the royal family only to be an "extra [in a] marketing skit."

"I think it's perfect. She went from 'Suits' to the British royal family and ended up strolling around parking lots and doing second-rate cameos for crap products. She is a masterclass of failing the epic social climb," one user opined.

Prince Harry and Markle have had a tough year, according to several royal commentators. They were named by The Hollywood Reporter as one of the biggest losers in Hollywood and dubbed the "Least Private Privacy Advocates."

Markle also claimed the top spot in Ranker's poll for the Most Disliked Celebrities in 2023. She dethroned Amber Heard, who previously held the position in the survey. Prince Harry also made it into the top 10.
