Robert De Niro recalled the "joy" of experiencing new fatherhood after welcoming his seventh baby last year.

The Oscar Award winning actor and his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, celebrated the arrival of their daughter, Gia, in April.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the 80-year-old expressed his delight, describing his newborn daughter Gia as "such an adorable baby" and noting her sweetness.

De Niro also shared that when he looks at Gia, everything else fades away, bringing him great joy and a sense of relief. Being fully present in those moments with her is a source of happiness, he said.

Reflecting on his roles in iconic films 'Heat' and 'The Untouchables,' De Niro expressed that having his family together means "everything" to him. The veteran actor emphasizes the significance of these moments of togetherness for his personal fulfillment.

From 1976 to 1988, De Niro was married to Diahnne Abbott. They are the parents of two children; Drena, 56,and Raphael, 47.

Expanding his family further, in 1995, he welcomed twin sons; Aaron and Julian, with his then-girlfriend, Toukie Smith.

In a previous marriage with Grace Hightower, the New York native became a parent to son Elliot and daughter Helen Grace. The couple separated in 2018.

Discussing his youngest daughter Gia, De Niro shared that she brings joy to the entire family, including the grandkids who find her amusing. As the grandkids are on the brink of their teenage years, Gia holds the role of their aunt.

De Niro is currently nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of murder mastermind William Hale in Martin Scorsese's 2023 historical crime drama 'Killers of the Flower Moon.'
