Melania Trump is likely making a comeback into the spotlight, according to a presidential couple expert.

The former first lady has been noticeably absent in her husband Donald Trump's campaign trail thus far. According to reports, she prefers to stay home with their son, Barron. However, that might change as she is seemingly making a return based on her recent sightings with the former president after their son turned 18 last month.

"These are only a few appearances, but they seem to be signs that she is easing her way back into public life and into the Trump campaign," said Katherine Jellison, a history professor at Ohio University and specialist in presidential couples.

Melania's recent appearances in fundraising events were reportedly a significant shift for the ex-FLOTUS. However, she seemingly appeared at ease attending those events rather than joining typical campaign rallies.

"She seems most comfortable doing these events rather than the more typical campaign activities for a political spouse: shaking hands and making small talk with a crowd of voters," Jellison continued.

Melania was last seen joining Trump at a fundraiser event held at John Paulson's lavish house on April 6. She made headlines after a clip of her from the event made the rounds on social media, where many claimed she looked like a hostage. Her former aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff likened Melania's appearance at the fundraising event to someone diving "into a pool of sharks" with nobody to protect her.

But an unnamed source spoke with Page Six and insisted that she was in good spirits at the gathering. Melania even reportedly "emerged as the main star" at the event, and so she might make more public appearances in the future.

"The former first lady, who usually appears quite serious in photographs, seemed to never stop smiling Saturday night and was charming and talkative to all the guests . . . She's ready to be first lady again and clearly enjoyed the evening," the source claimed.

"Melania enjoys being a hostess," the insider continued. "She's very supportive of her husband's campaign, and as we get closer to the final months, you can expect to see her more at key events."

Last month, Melania was also beside Trump when they hosted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. She looked stunning in her all-white pantsuit and appeared surprised when she received a bouquet from Orbán.

Interestingly, Melania might have already hinted at her potential comeback in the spotlight. She was asked in mid-March if she would return to the campaign trail, and she told reporters to "stay tuned."

The ex-FLOTUS will host a fundraising event for the Log Cabin Republicans, the largest organization dedicated to LGBT conservatives and allies, at Mar-a-Lago on April 20.
