The 48-year-old announced the news in an Instagram post on Wednesday, May 20, where she opened up about beginning treatment and leaning on her loved ones during the difficult time. Vanessa said she is now working closely with her doctors while staying hopeful about her recovery.

"I've recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. While this isn't news anyone expects, I'm working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan," Vanessa wrote in her message. She also thanked the doctors who recently performed a medical procedure connected to her diagnosis, NBC News reported.

While Vanessa did not share additional details about the surgery, her post focused on gratitude, family support, and staying positive moving forward.

"I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me," she shared.

Vanessa is the former wife of Donald Trump Jr. The pair were married from 2005 until 2018 and share five children together: Kai, Donald III, Tristan, Spencer, and Chloe.

According to People, in the same post, Vanessa thanked people for their support and politely requested privacy while she continues her recovery journey.

Family members and supporters quickly filled the comments section with encouraging messages. Ivanka Trump, Vanessa's former sister-in-law, publicly shared her support.

Vanessa is currently dating golf star Tiger Woods, who recently returned home after completing a six-week treatment program outside the United States tied to legal troubles following a car crash and DUI-related charges.
