Actor Orlando Bloom has spoken out about his divorce with Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr for the first time since his rep announced the news late Thursday evening (Oct. 24).
When a TMZ reporter in New York City asked Bloom, 36, if he and Kerr were still on good terms with one another, Bloom answered, "Of course man. We're not friends, we're family...We're family."
Bloom was then asked if there was any particular thing that caused the breakup. The British Pirates of the Caribbean actor answered, "Life is a mystery. Things don't always work out the way you want it to."
Bloom and Kerr were together for a total of six years and married for three. The couple tied the knot in a secret ceremony in July 2010. They also have a two-year-old son, Flynn.
Bloom and Kerr made headlines when his rep revealed he and Kerr have actually been separated for months now.
"In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months. After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation. Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family," the rep said.
