The first annual YouTube Music Awards were in full swing Sunday, November 3.

Lose Yourself rapper Eminem rocked the stage and Applause singer Lady Gaga also performed.

Taking place at New York's Pier 36 and hosted by Fight For Your Right Revisited actor Jason Schwartzman and musician Reggie Watts, the first awards show of its kind ran from 6PM to 7:30 ET.

Nominees like Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga were all selected based on views within the past 12 months. Categories included: Video of the Year, response of the Year, YouTube Breakthrough and Innovation of the Year, YouTube Phenomenon and Artist of the Year. Up and coming stars like the Piano Guys, Pentatnox and Piano Guys were also nominees this year.

Video of the Year went to Girls' Generation's I Got A Boy. The group went against the likes of Demi Lovato's Heart Attack, Justin Bieber (featuring Nicki Minaj) Beauty and A Beat, Lady Gaga's Applause ,Selena Gomez Come Get It, Miley Cyrus, We Can't Stop as well as Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney, Epic Rap Battles of History.

I Knew You Were Trouble took home the YouTube Phenomenon award against Diamonds, Harlem Shake and Gangnam Style.

When it came to the YouTube Breakthrough category, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis came out on top. They beat Naughty Boy, Passenger, Kendrick Lamar and Rudimental.

Eminem won Artist of the Year beating out Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Psy, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, ERB, Justin Bieber and Katie Perry.

For Response of the Year, Lindsey Stirling and Pentatnox, Radioactive won against Boyce Avenue (featuring Fifth Harmony) Mirrors, Jayesslee Gangnam Style, Walk Off the Earth (featuring KRNFX) I Knew You Were Trouble, The Piano Guys Titanium/Pavane.

The Innovation of the Year winner was DeStorm for See Me Standing who was against Anamanaguchi Endless Fantasy, Toro Y Moi Say That, Bat for Lashes Lilies, Atoms for Peace, Ingenue.
