Actor Tom Cruise has defended himself as a father in a $50 million lawsuit against Life and Style and In Touch magazines after they claimed he deserted Suri after he and her mother, actress Katie Holmes divorced in June 2012.

According to TMZ, in the documents Cruise said, "I have no way cut Suri out of my life -- whether physically, emotionally, financially or otherwise...even during the times when I was working overseas and was not able to see Suri in person, we were 9 and continue to be) extremely close...I love Suri dearly and would never abandon her."

Cruise's lawsuits against the publications claim they defamed him and invaded his privacy. In regards to Life and Style, his filing stems from the magazine's July 30th cover that read "Suri in tears, Abandoned by her dad" For In Touch, it was their Oct. 1st cover that displayed a picture of Suri with the words, "Abandoned by Daddy" that caused Cruise to sue.

While he confessed he was shooting two movies during the time In Touch ran their cover story he said he was still very much a part of Suri's life.

"As my numerous emails with Suri's mother during this time period demonstrate, I was a constant presence in Suri's life...While I'm sure my daughter misses me when I am not with her (as I miss her), she is a very happy child, and we have a wonderful relationship and cheerful phone calls."

Cruise's lawyer, Bert field, also defended his client and said, "Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri. She's a vital part of his life and always will be. To say he ahs 'abandoned' her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible."

He continued to say the money Cruise gets from the magazines will be donated to charity.

Life and Style has now asked for detailed information on Suri's mental state as well as a visitation schedule of how much she sees Cruise. Check out the video for details.
