Tom Cruise might make his space travel for work a dream come true soon.

In the past years, Cruise has been sparking buzz that he might film his next flick in outer space. Now, new reports shared how close he has been to make it happen.

Multiple media outlets, including Rolling Stone and New York Post, reported that Cruise might reach a new milestone after it was revealed that the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group included it on its mission.

In an interview with BBC, Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman Donna Langley said that the actor and director Doug Liman pitched the film to the studio amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The plan will reportedly make the movie "take place on earth, and then the character will need to go up to space to save the day."

"Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He's taking the world to space. That's the plan," Langley said.

If that happens, the "Top Gun: Maverick" actor would be the first actor to shoot a movie on the International Space Station.

As of press time, it remains unknown whether Cruise would enter the ISS or walk outside the station instead. Universal, on the other hand, has green-lit the movie already. It is said to be in the development stages.

Behind Tom Cruise's Stunts

Cruise has been known for his death-defying stunts, and it would no longer be surprising to see him in space to do his first action-packed film outside Earth.

But aside from Cruise, the man behind his stunts also garnered attention. Men's Journal shared a statement from the actor's stunt coordinator, Wade Eastwood, who said that Cruise never says no to any stunts.

Per Eastwood, the "Mission: Impossible" star always works hard to have the skill-sets he needs per project.

After working together in "Edge of Tomorrow," the stunt coordinator became Cruise's frequent collaborator. He has already worked with other action stars, as well, including Brad Pitt, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Daniel Craig.

Meanwhile, Cruise himself explained that he always spends time preparing himself to do the stunts. He also undergoes training and helps the other cast members in their action scenes.

In the end, Eastwood said one could only pull off what Cruise does if they are disciplined. He added that the actor would continue to work until he is broken.
