During Wednesday night's X Factor, Demi Lovato compared contestant Rachel Potter to Carrie Underwood and the country crooner's fans weren't happy about it.

After Potter performed Heart's 1987 hit Alone, judge Simon Cowell said he wasn't sure what type of recording artist she desires to be. In her own defense, Potter said she wants to be a country artist and added, "Carrie Underwood would do this."

"No, you would do better than Carrie Underwood," Lovato replied.

The comparison didn't sit well with many of Underwood's fans who took to Twitter to respond to Lovato's words.

"Did Demi lovato just tell this girl on X factor that she sounds better the Carrie underwood uhmmm ... NO."

"Demi Lovato is delusional. She thinks a mediocre contestant on X Factor is better than Carrie Underwood? Girl bye."

"Did Demi Lovato just say some chick on X Factor would do better singing than Carrie Underwood? Laughable. Also, what are you wearing? Wow."

"Demi lovato, should be ashamed of herself, dissing carrie underwood like that on the X factor. Practice what you peach, Demi. Bullying."

Cowell, however, previously praised Underwood during season 3's auditions when Top 12 contestant Rion Paige took the stage to perform the former American Idol winner's song Blown Away.

"I remember the first day I met Carrie Underwood, and I remember predicting that this girl was going to go on and do special things with her life, and I'm going to say the same about you, Rion," he said. "I'm going to remember this audition for a long, long time."
